Summary: |
A young English widow, Anna Owens, accepts the job of teaching the royal children of Siam. The King attempts to intimidate her, but she gains his respect by standing up to him. His court is unhappy with this; but in due time Anna becomes the King's confidant and diplomatic advisor. The movie’s charm is found in its depiction of the culture clash between Anna and the King, which ultimately results in both learning from the other.
